SWELL Center Manger (Seasonal, Part-Time)

Description
Position Summary:
Under general supervision, the Manager for SWELL Center assists in the planning and implementation of a variety of activities specifically designed for the SWELL Center to meet the interests and needs of middle and high school age teens. The Manager will work with the Lafayette Library and Learning Center Executive Director, teen and adult SWELL Advisory Committees to develop drop-in programs that will attract and
support tweens and teens from throughout the region during school breaks. The Manager will also be on-site at SWELL, managing/providing the programming while in session.
Essential Duties Include:

Manage the SWELL Center facility and SWELL Center events.

Assist in program development: coordination, planning, record-keeping, and reports.

Prepare and plan for daily activities, arriving prior to opening to allow enough time for set up.

May teach, drive for, oversee or lead activities.

Help recruit, schedule, and supervise the work of interns, volunteers, and contract personnel.

Inspect program equipment and facilities for safety hazards and recommend corrective action.

Responsible for daily clean-up and maintaining the SWELL Center, involving interns and participants to keep the Center clean and inviting.

Work closely with the teen librarian and library manager to ensure activities at SWELL are aligned with library activities.

Support marketing efforts including social media that will attract the target audience for SWELL.

Ensure attendance is taken daily and daily reporting needs are completed.

Perform other related work as required.

Responsible for the Teen Center facility when on the job.

Attend staff meetings as needed.

Perform other related work as required and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education and experience equivalent to graduation from High School.

Minimum of three years experience working with teens in a youth services/youth program environment, preferably at a counselor or teacher level.

Understanding of youth-centered program development.

Experience receiving and integrating input from constituents to support related program development.

Belief in the ability of teen-centered programming to make a difference in teens lives.

Age 21 or older.

Valid Driver’s License and good driving record.

Must be able to pass a background check and be willing to provide fingerprints for a background check (mandatory for compliance with State law).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must enjoy and be comfortable working with middle and high school ages as well as adults.

Ability to plan, organize, and implement group social activities and basic knowledge of rules and techniques of social and cultural activities.

Knowledge of first aid methods and safety precautions against physical and other hazards.

Skill in several activities applicable to the Teen Center recreation program.

Sincere commitment to the program, and participants’ needs and ideas regarding the SWELL Center.
Supervision Received:
Position reports to the Executive Director; works closely with Teen and
Adult Advisory Boards.
Working Conditions:
Primary location in typical (small) drop-in teen center environment, with occasional meetings at off-site locations. This position is eligible for remote work during the planning stages of the SWELL Center operating time, with the requirement to be on-site for an occasional meeting and then 100% on-site in the times during which SWELL is in session.
Compensation & Benefits:
This part-time, temporary, non-exempt position includes an hourly wage of $30-35/hour. LLLCF also offers a benefits package which includes a retirement plan with 3% matching, and accrual-based vacation and sick leave.
