DONATE BOOKS AND RELATED ITEMS
Accepted donations include gently used books, DVDs, books on CD, complete puzzles and board games.
We do not accept books that are damaged, mildewed or moldy, smell of tobacco, or with significant underlining, highlight or notes. We do not accept encyclopedias, legal casebooks and statutes, magazines, recordings, video or audio cassettes or music CDs. All donations are tax-deductible. Receipts available at the donation site and inside the Book Shop.
Donations are now being accepted. Enter the Library parking garage and locate 2 grey cabinets behind the old fire engine. Books should be removed from bags/boxes and placed in the cabinet. Please donate only 2 bags/boxes of books at one time to allow space for others to donate.
VOLUNTEER - BECOME A FRIEND
Volunteering in the Friends Corner Book Shop is a great way to support the Lafayette Library. It’s both enjoyable and rewarding. Volunteer Opportunities include shelving books, staffing the front desk, greeting and helping customers, processing book donations for sale, and assisting with Amazon sales. Volunteer to assist with Friends programs, events or special projects, or serve on the Friends Board. The Friends board is a working board and each member fulfills a specific need of the organization. From time to time vacancies do occur. If you are interested in being considered for a board vacancy, please contact us at LLLCFriends@friendsoflafayettelibrary.org.

Past and Present “Friends” have supported the Lafayette Library since 1860
The Friends of the Lafayette Library and Learning Center is a volunteer 501(c)3 organization that exists to support the Lafayette Library and Learning Center. Friends is governed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors, with each person making a unique and meaningful contribution to the organization and the Lafayette Library.

WHAT FRIENDS SUPPORTS
Money raised by selling gently used books support the Lafayette Library and Learning Center.
Friends underwrites a variety of programs for children and adults.

The Friends underwrites the cost of these programs such as speaker fees, supplies, and room rentals.

Youth Bookmark Contest: Calling all young artists, grades K-8! Our bookmark contest is an annual event. Winning selections are made into Library bookmarks and distributed through the schools, the Library and Friends Corner Book Shop.
History of the Friends of the Lafayette Library
Lafayette's first Library, possibly the oldest Library in the county, was located in a post office building on what is today the Safeway parking lot. As early as 1913, the Lafayette Improvement club filled the role of the Friends of the Library.
